Lavinia texted me to ask if I was interested in participating in this one project. It was a shoot for a videoclip. But it was unlike any other shoot I had ever taken part.
I said,
Yes. But who’s the other guy?
She replicated,
Do you prefer picking someone yourself? Maybe someone you know?
I thought,
Hell no. Definitely not someone I already know.
What to do. What to do.
She sent me his credentials and I confirmed he was trained as an actor. I thought,
Well, if he’s a professional it should work. Let’s hope he’s not a weirdo.
What to do. What to do. And before I could rationalize, the words
Let’s go for it,
came out of my mouth, but at the same time, this pressing thought,
What the heck am I getting myself into?
*
The shoot was on a Monday. I felt nervous while cycling to the venue, but now I had committed myself to the job so there was no turning back. Excitement, anticipation, fear.
We almost didn’t talk beforehand. It was a bit like,
Hi, I am Ana, nice to meet you. Should we get undressed?
We spent around three hours on set, moving to the sound of a whimsical song, while Letizia and the team did their job behind the cameras.
During the break Letizia asked,
Are you sure you guys didn’t know each other beforehand?
We didn’t.
Oftentimes my impulsiveness is what brings me the most special experiences. I’m still unsure if it was actually about being impulsive or if it was about trusting my gut feeling. In either case, at the end of the day, these memories usually become my favorite.
Josef and I are friends to this day.
