Weekly agenda | 15th – 21st May

[The Weekly Agenda is a selection of cultural events for the city of Amsterdam, with an alternative feel. An activity per day, or sometimes two if they can be combined with each other. Every listed event includes a link to its website, and free events are signaled as well. For updates please like Amsterdive’s Facebook page]

Okay. I’ve half an hour to finish this agenda, as I need to cycle afterwards to the work which pays my rent. So here are the events which strike my fancy this week. Might you have any question about any of these, just shoot it in the comments down below, or via Facebook, and I’ll get back to you. This is my way of compensating my readers for the lack of the usual event descriptions. Above all: go explore, and enjoy!

Hi, all!

This week’s agenda is long and full of exciting events and activities. Sometimes it is just very difficult to select because I literally want to go everywhere, and there are so many interesting things going on at the same time in the city. Decisions, decisions!… Anyway, here’s my list of priorities for the week:

Weekly agenda | 20th – 26th Feb

Good morning you all!

Before we head to this week’s agenda, let me give you two cultural tips. Don’t miss the Ed van der Elsken’s exhibition at Stedelijk. Camera in love the largest photographic and filmic overview of the legend, with a lot of important documents on Amsterdam, and its characters. It will stay until May but, you know how it goes: you postpone it, and before you know, it is over. And since you are there, go see the Tinguely’s Machine Spectacle. His machine sculptures are huge, playful, and a way of rejecting the static convencional art, and the status quo of the artist. A surprising, bizarre, and hilarious spectacle. Make sure you go early in the morning, or late in the evening on Friday. Otherwise, if you are anything like me, the permanent crowds might overstimulate your nerves, and we don’t want that.

Let’s hover over to this week’s cultural agenda. Don’t forget that every listed event includes a link to its website, and free events are signaled as well. To get updates please like Amsterdive’s Facebook page. And if you did it already, you have a place in my heart, obviously.

Weekly agenda | 23rd – 29 Jan

Have you been keeping your good intents for this year, people?

Yesterday I got this message from a friend saying how much he had liked my previous story, that it was original, that he appreciated my “contemporary fairytales”, that I should definitely keep on going this way. At a moment when I’m panicking loaded with work, this incentive meant the world to me.

So, boys and girls, whatever you are into, stay strong. In case you find yourself in a down, change the game immediately. Get outside, go for a walk, do some sport, talk to an uplifting friend, go out dancing, find a cliff or a corner where to scream from, whatever works. Breathe and take it from there. The moment is now. This whole conversation is the consequence of me thinking that maybe a little reminder could give you guys that extra kick in the butt you might be in need of.

As for your leisure time, allow me to suggest a number of things I think are worth of our attention. Don’t forget that every listed event includes a link to its website, and free events are signaled as well. To get updates please like Amsterdive’s Facebook page. And if you did it already, you have a place in my heart, obviously.

Week (end) agenda | 26th Dec – 1st Jan 2017

I grew up in a time when the year of 2017 seemed so far that, just by pronouncing it, you sort of had an instantaneous science-fiction feel. TWO-THOUSAND-AND-SEVENTEEN. It still feels like that, right? Seventeen years ago a good portion of the world’s population was convinced we were done, the end of time was just ahed of us. And yet, we came this far. I’ve been considering every year a gift since then ( reflection moment here).

Okey, I’m exaggerating. I’m not able of being that mindful, although I really do try.

But let’s go back to trivia. Mommy is in da house! Christmas was pure gezelligheid in her company. Other than that, I have to find all sorts of ways of entertaining her, and myself, along the way. So here we go, back to planning. Don’t forget that every event includes a link to its website, and free events are signaled as well. To get updates please like Amsterdive’s Facebook page. And if you did it already, you have a place in my heart, of course.
