The highs and lows of working remotely in Portugal

I spent the months of March and April working remotely in my homeland Portugal. Despite being on familiar ground, I haven’t lived there in ten years, which is partly why I get the holiday feels every time I’m back. Remote (and sunny) enough thus. At the beginning of 2022, it felt like there was no more time to waste. I needed tangible progress in my life and, suddenly, that took form in a workaway with freelancer friends in the South of Europe.

Surfing the waves of freelance chaos: on consistency

Without bringing in some more structure to my workdays, I am as good as stagnated at this point. I need to create the conditions to keep on coming back to my passion work on a consistent basis, and make sure I make progress. As much as I tend to dislike schedules and plans and methodical agendas, it seems to me now that I need to bring in more structure into my days. I need a system, but I feel an incredible amount of resistance when it comes to not having as much spontaneity in my life as I have now. Help.
