Week (end) Agenda | 12th – 18th Dec

And here we are again, with a new week ahed of us. My biggest luxury is setting off my Monday as if it was Saturday, as I usually do. I watch everyone rush as I do just the opposite. I head to my morning Yoga class. Starting the week with Yoga is a serious priority as it sets the tone of what’s to come. It brings me the focus and peace of mind I need to go sit and write for a few hours. This way I have the feeling I pampered myself, and that brings up my motivation for working. This has become a ritual, as in a preparation moment before the journey starts. And it truly brings me joy.

Putting this agenda together also gives me the feeling I’m organizing my week. That is why I love doing it. And without further ado, let’s take a look at exciting stuff. Don’t forget that every event includes a link to its website, and free events are signaled as well. To get updates please like Amsterdive’s Facebook page. And if you did it already, you have a place in my heart, of course.

Mon, 12th, 17.00 | Being There: Tales of Migratory Journeys | Artis Library

Talks. Here is the theme which will be discussed between an ecologist, a visual artist and a folk singer: “How do humans and animals move through their environment on journeys of migration and flight? How do they navigate both their path and their resources, adapting to new conditions? And what role do material culture and environment play in shaping or sustaining lives in these precarious situations?”

This is THE storytelling night in Amsterdam, the night that initiated the storytelling movement in the city, and became a classic in our  cultural landscape. This is an English spoken evening. Drinks & the yummiest home-made soup are available, and if you want to get a seat you should definitely go, at least, half an hour in advance.

Dance. With a strong international ensemble, this is a piece of abstract dance with gamelan-music. This Indonesian dance group makes an eclectic piece which earned four stars from four different Dutch newspapers. The entrance is free for We Are Public card holders.
