Amsterdive is currently being written from a new laptop. Remarkable news because this new machine was in 75% sponsored by Amsterdive’s readers – who happen to be friends as well. More on this story will follow soon. But yes, I’m exhilarating.
And now let’s get straight to this week’s agenda, which is all about music because Amsterdam Dance Event is right there, and the anti-ADE events are there as well. Now, I’m no electronic music expert ( and most events are already sold out anyway), but I’m an expert at good alternatives. Don’t forget that the names of the events include a link to its website, and free events are signaled as well. To get weekly updates of selected events, please like Amsterdive’s Facebook page. And if you did it already, you have a place in my heart, of course.
Mon, 17th | Fuoccoammare documentary | De Hallen

Tue, 18th, 20.30 | Revolt – Project Sally | Theater Bellevue
Every day is a good one for a dance show. Words for this one: energy, protest and vulnerability. This is a work of three choreographers, and the entrance is free with a We are Public membership card.
Wed, 19th, 21.45 | Dutch National Opera & Amsterdam Dance Event | Noorderlicht
This is exciting. A contemporary electronic opera? Sign me in! Description reads: “Before Present is an examination of and reflection on our current times and state, as seen from the future”. In case you can’t make it Wednesday, there’s a performance on Thursday as well.
Thu, 2oth, 16.00 | Afternoon Tripel | Café Belgique
Café Belgique is a uber cozy brown bar with proper turntables. Does this sound like a contradiction in terms? Go check it out for yourself & get delighted with their a-m-a-z-i-n-g selection of Belgian beers.
Fri, 21st, 20.00 | The Original Mezrab Storytelling Night | donation-based event
If you haven’t heard of the storytelling nights, you should definitely go fix that. At the Mezrab, everybody gathers around the carpet, eventually with a bowl of home-made soup in hands, and listens to stories ( the good-old way). And you can go tell your own, if you like!
Sat, 22nd Oct, 13.00 | ADEV 2016: Dans dwars door de stad! | free entrance
This is an event of alternative music, but above all, one that aims at preserving alternative experimental places in the city. “We dance for the preservation of these free spaces and to keep public area’s accessible to everyone, with or without a well-filled wallet”. Check their program for the list of places & events.
Sun, 23rd, 23.30 | ADE Wicked Jazz Sounds STUFF. Swindle | Sugarfactory
I always though Sundays were the best days to party. It is even more so when I think of the Wicked Jazz Sounds – a PROPER clubbing night. This time they’re hosting the Belgium band STUFF with “their signature mix of future funk, triphop, drum ‘n bass, electronica and jazzy soundscapes”.
